Automobiles in Germany's City Discovered Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Authorities reported they were contacted by a man who found a vehicle in Hanau marked with red-colored substance

Around 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.

Officers say they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.

The fluid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then discovered numerous other vandalized cars and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials state initial examinations suggest the substance was probably human blood.

"There is still no lead as to where it came from; authorities are not yet cognizant of any injuries in association with the incident," they stated.

Municipal representatives said they were working "to solve the case" and have asked to the residents for details.

A senior official stated the incident rendered him speechless and required to be solved quickly.

"This event hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right attack in 2020," he wrote on online, recalling the murder of nine victims by a gunman focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
